Eagle Rocket Internet Of Things Micro

Eagle Media has developed a new Internet of Things solution in the form of a micro sized PCB development board called the Eagle Rocket which can provide both wireless or GSM/GPRS support.

Check out the demonstration video below to learn more about the new IoT development board which has taken to Kickstarter to raise the €15,000 it requires to go into production.

The creators of the Eagle Rocket Internet of Things development board explain more about its inspiration and features.

From the first day I saw the ESP 8266 and the A6 GSM Module I was fascinated by its possibilities. It is cheap and easy to program. You can find code examples for almost every project in the Internet. Unfortunately, I always run into the same problems:

• it was too big for a breadboard,
• it was too small for real life applications,
• the mounting holes was useless (big screw head),
• the case was either to big or to small,
• missing voltage converter on the board,
• no proper screws at home.
I ended up with many projects they are still on breadboard and collecting dust…

The Solution:

• new PCB Size which can pick up all basic components,
• not too big for a breadboard,
• not too small for real life applications,
• mounting without screws,
• standardised case size it can pick up all my (or your) DIY boards.

The Eagle Rocket system was born. It is big enough to pick up many popular modules like the ESP 8266, ESP32, A6, A7 (GSM+GPS) and the SIM808. The size of the Rocket allows you to add a second µcontroller with a boost-, buck- or buck-boost converter and it‘s only a little bit bigger than a 18650 Battery.
