Life for Mendota Heights residents and business owners who want to use alternative energy systems may have just gotten a little easier.

Lillie News reported that the Mendota Heights City Council recently approved amendments to the current ordinance governing the installation of solar panels.

City officials hope the changes make the permit process easier for residents and businesses.

The city has so far approved four permits for roof-mounted solar panels, including one for Friendly Hills Middle School.

Applicants said the review process for a permit took too long, so the city council directed staff to propose amendments to make the process more efficient.
