HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s penchant for the internet of things (IoT) is sending officials into a tizzy.
With Naidu deciding to use the IoT-enabled State Command Centre to monitor the progress of various development programmes and welfare schemes, officials fear that it will further hamper the work.

Naidu has decided to introduce ‘real-time governance’ by monitoring development works through virtual inspection and administration. IoT is an advanced technology that uses smartphones for real time monitoring of virtually everything ranging from traffic congestion to alert on gas leak at home.

The State Command Centre enables exchange of data between multiple devices. Naidu on Thursday conducted a virtual tour of Polavaram project in West Godavari by sitting at the Command Control Centre in Vijayawada. He also interacted with officials at the project site.

The government on Friday appointed B Rajasekhar as the incharge of the Centre. He was the special officer for Krishna Pushkarams. Naidu had monitored traffic and pilgrim flow during Pushkarams through the IoT. Though officials welcome use of latest technology, they are unhappy at the way Naidu sits in the Command Centre for long hours, holding back the entire administration.
